I spent 10 years working as a psychodynamic counsellor before adding the Group Analytic mindset to my individual work.
Group Analysts understand the individual in the context of their relationships and those who influence them. Anyone familiar with the work of the sociologist Norbert Elias will recognize this approach.
Prior to training as a psychotherapist I worked as a lecturer. I like to interest people in understanding psychological ideas for themselves.
We not only solve the immediate problem but the person goes away with ideas that can be applied more widely. Having taught and supervised intensive psychotherapy training for 16 years I have the knowledge and the skill to do this.
There are few topics that are a closed book to me as I have been fortunate to have colleagues, each experts in their own field of psychotherapy, who have readily shared their understanding.
